Appendix: Cables and Pin Assignments

 Null Modem Cable
The following Null Modem Cables are required to control the following instruments. For information about the pin assignments and part numbers of the null modem cables that are available from Dionex, refer to the corresponding sections below.
Instruments for which a null-modem cable with single pseudo handshake is required:
 ESA Coulochem II Electrochemical
 Detector
 Gilson 231XL, 232XL, 233XL Autosamplers
 (Old Device Driver)
 Nelson Interfaces (Types 950, 960,
 and 970)
 Perkin Elmer Autosystem (XL) GC
Instruments for which a completely connected null modem cable is required :
 Merck
 Hitachi LaChrom HPLC System
 Merck Hitachi L7200 Autosampler
 Merck Hitachi L7250 Autosampler
 Shimadzu LC-10A/LC-20A HPLC Systems
 Shimadzu GC 2010/2014 GC Systems
Instruments for which a null-modem cable with pseudo handshake on both ends is required:

Perkin Elmer Series 200 Diode Array Detector

 Tip:
Do not confuse crossover null modem cables
 with the non-crossover
 Modem
 Cable (1:1 RS cable)!
Dionex Part Numbers
The completely connected null modem cable is available as 9-pin to 9-pin cable:
1310.2263 null modem cable
The following null modem cables with pseudo handshake on one end are available:
9-pin to 9-pin:
8914.0129 for RS cable RU (2.5 m)
8914.0130 for RS cable RU (5 m)
8914.0131 for RS cable RU (10 m)
25-pin to 9-pin:
8914.0103A for RS cable RU (2.5 m)
8914.0120 for RS cable RU (5 m)
8914.0121 for RS cable RU (10 m)
If necessary, use an adapter to connect the cable to a 25-pin socket. These null modem cables have been slightly modified to ensure data transmission even with hardware handshaking enabled. However, the above hardware handshake is not realized.
For information about other connections, refer
to the installation instructions for the device. (Also, refer to
 Installing and Controlling Third-Party
 Devices.)
 Tip:

The null modem cable with pseudo handshake
on one end is almost identical with the
 Dionex/LC Packings: Solvent Organizer
Cable that is required for the Dionex/LC Packings UltiMate Capillary/Nano
HPLC System. However, do not confuse these two cables; the Solvent Organizer
Communication Cable provides an additional connection from pin 1 to pin
 6 on both connectors!
